Inclusive Legal Advocacy

We’re here to help

Derber Law is a small firm that has centred itself around the ideals of two colleagues turned friends, Whitney Derber and Susan Apperley. Over the course of their time working together at other firms, the two discovered they shared a desire to focus on areas of law that they are passionate about in their personal lives, including immigration, disability claims, and supporting those legally seeking to align their legal names with their gender identity. With the advent of Derber Law, they have been able to create a firm that meets these ideals.

We are committed to helping when you need it the most through providing sound advice and advocacy.

What our clients are saying

Chantal C.

“Following a car accident in 2017, Whitney Derber was recommended to me as I had no knowledge about personal injury. Whitney turned out to be more informed than my doctor on my brain injury symptoms and treatment and has championed my journey as I learned to adapt to the life altering results of the accident.

Whitney is bright, clever, determined, genuine, enthusiastic and has not shyed away from supporting me as my lawyer and my friend. She has changed my life. Her hard work along with the team at Derber Law yielded a positive resolution to our lawsuit.”

Lori L.

“I started working with Susan Apperley in 1998, and through the years she’s been a help to me and my friends in several matters. In every case, everyone Susan assisted was very satisfied with her professional services.  She is everything that you could hope for in a lawyer: precise, detail oriented, communicative, caring, and tough when toughness is needed.

I feel that in my life, I have been fortunate to have a team of guardian angels that look after me and Susan Apperley is one of them.”

Christine C.

“We were hitting roadblocks at every turn while navigating a workplace injury.

Met Susan and with her knowledge and expertise our case quickly moved forward, my Husband had his treatments approved, and his appeal for compensation accepted.

We can’t thank her enough for getting us action and positive results.”
